What is a kirppis?

A kirpputori (kirppis, or loppis in Swedish) is an indoor flea market or second-hand shop where people sell used items — like clothes, furniture, kitchen tools, toys, and home décor — usually at low prices.


Main Flea Markets in Vaasa

🛍️ Combo‑Kirppis

What: Large flea market with thousands of items — clothes, decorations, household goods, tools, furniture and more, often with some new outlet-priced stock too.
Where: Lentokentäntie area, Vaasa.
When: Usually open daily (approx. 10:00–19:00 weekdays; shorter weekends).
Why go: Great first stop for broad variety and affordable finds.


🛍️ Comboliina

What: Another large indoor flea market/outlet with many second-hand items — clothes, home goods, accessories.
Where: Sepänkyläntie, near Vaasa centre.
When: Often open afternoons/evenings (e.g., ~11:00–19:00, weekends shorter).
Why go: Good for browsing lots of bargains in one place.


🛍️ SPR Reshop (Red Cross second-hand)

What: Classic thrift store run by the Finnish Red Cross — clothes, accessories, home items offered at low prices.
Where: Vöyrinkatu, Vaasa city.
When: Typically open weekdays and Saturdays (closed Sundays).
Why go: Good choice for everyday basics and donations-based finds.


🛍️ Hoppets stjärna – Toivon tähti

What: Small second-hand/traditional kirppis with clothes, household goods, and vintage pieces.
Where: Rauhankatu, near central Vaasa.
When: Usually daytime hours on weekdays and Saturdays.
Why go: Cozy local shop vibe and charity-style thrift finds.


Tips for Visiting Kirppikset

🧭 Plan your day: Many kirpputori’s regular hours are daytime or afternoon (check ahead, especially on weekends).
💶 Cash & card: Most accept cards; cash can still be handy for small buys.
📦 Bring bags: To carry your finds (and reusable bags help the environment).
📍 Early visit: Arrive earlier in the day for the best selection.
📱 Local transport: Many are reachable by bus or bike around Vaasa centre.
